ORT SA Cape
ORT SA CAPE focuses on four core areas:
TEACHER TRAINING:
Due to the challenges in our education system, they focus their training on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and foundational learning skills in young children. Courses include: Literacy development, Perceptual Skills development, and Learning through Play. They also offer pre-service training for unemployed youth to study towards a qualification in ECD.
PURPOSEFUL PLAY:
Together with the LEGO Foundation, ORT SA CAPE distributes LEGO resources and offers training on the use of these resources to schools and ECD centres in disadvantaged communities across the Western Cape.
ECD INTERNSHIP:
This initiative addresses South Africa’s high unemployment rate by recruiting, training, and placing young men and women in schools as teaching assistants for one year. This allows for interns to develop a love for education and potentially continue in this field in the future.
EDUTECH HUB:
Their Edutech hub focuses on training educators to demystify coding, technology, and robotics to incorporate these technologies in their classroom and curriculum.

Wizards World
Early in the 1980’s a small games shop called Wizards Den popped up in the Golden Acre Centre in the Cape Town Railway Station precinct. This little shop was the forerunner of all games shops in South Africa. Since then Wizards has gone through various incarnations and locations having at one time been represented by Wizards Books and Games in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Recently there has been another name change.
We are now Wizards World, presently represented on our website as well as a bricks and mortar shop at the Cape Town Science Centre.
Our depth of knowledge of the games market and international contacts gives us a head start in sourcing and stocking all the best and latest product available to the market.
