The iCafe story

Est. July 2014

After working on a number of entrepreneurship projects, including the Department of Coffee, Khayelitsha’s first ever coffee shop, Jess & Murray realised there was a real need for helping young people to get a foot in the door of the food and beverage industry.

Their aim, to provide “on the job” skills training for young people with no previous experience in the industry.

iCafe at the Science Centre

In partnership with the Cape Town Science Centre, iCafe started out as a small business and has blossomed into a skills incubator, offering young people on the job training and a realistic opportunity to find gainful employment. To date, iCafe have nurtured numerous trainees, several of whom have gone on to bigger and better things.

The proceeds from iCafe also supports the NPO, Connect Sport Academy, providing meals to disadvantaged youths in Khayelitsha and Langa who take part in their after school programmes.

Please enjoy every bite and sip of their delicious coffee knowing your purchase is used for good!
