REACH Hubs
Robotics, E-skills and Coding Hubs (REACH) is an initiative of the Western Cape Education Department, in partnership with the Cape Town Science Centre.
The REACH programme is a community hub dedicated to Robotics education. It provides direct support to teachers according to their needs, working to demystify robotics education within the Western Cape. The REACH programme offers resources, ongoing support, and peer-to-peer sharing.
Robotics is where play meets technology. It is that simple!
Most people initially think of robotics as something that is strange, complex and daunting. It is seen as something only experts can do, but that is not the case. You don’t need to be a botanist to plant a garden. Likewise, you don’t need to be a tech expert to do robotics. Robotics is for everyone!
One Kit, Many Possible Functions!
The REACH Robotics Kit is manufactured by Lasec® Education. The kit includes motors, LEDs and sensors. The robot is controlled wirelessly using an app on your phone or device. There is a chip on your robot running AppShed’s firmware. This allows the REACH robot to communicate with your phone.
