Teacher Workshop

CALLING ALL TEACHERS

15 JUNE 2019 | 10:00 – 13:00

The CTSC Teacher Enrichment Workshops are BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

All workshops are 1.5 hrs and will be repeated twice. Teachers will therefore have the opportunity to attend more than one workshop on the day but booking is essential.

HOME-BASED CHEMISTRY (Matter and Materials) | Grade 4 – 9

An initiative by Zukiswa Gala (Natural Science Subject Advisor – North District) in support of Teacher Enrichment. The understanding of chemistry grows through practical experience. This ‘home-based’ chemistry workshop will explore the practical aspects of teaching chemistry. Join in the fun and explore how chemistry can be practically done in a fun, safe and low-cost environment all while enhancing learners comprehension of chemistry.

D.I.Y. SCIENCE (Energy and Change) | Grade 4 – 9

An initiative by Zukiswa Gala (Natural Science Subject Advisor – North District) in support of this Teacher Enrichment. From simple circuits to electroscopes, heat transfer to sources of energy – investigate the use of recycled materials in making science practical, visual and more accessible to learners. Be warned, this workshop may cause chronic fun to occur in future lessons!

SCIENCE LESSONS MADE DYNAMIC WITH DEMONSTRATIONS | All Grades

Take your lessons to this next level with dynamic science demonstrations! Move beyond the spoken and written word to capture learners imagination through action. The workshop will explore how to do simple, safe and impact demonstrations at a low cost, using everyday common materials. This is a workshop not to be missed!

CODING WITH CONTEXT | All Grades

Scratch is perfect for beginners (yes, Teachers too!) and the perfect entry coding language for adults and children alike. With Scratch, you can program your interactive stories, games and animations – and share your creations with others in the online community. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively – essential skills for life in the 21st century.
