alan dugganAlan Duggan is the founding editor of Popular Mechanics magazine, South Africa’s leading science and technology title, and organiser of several successful conferences focusing on everything from home-grown inventions to cutting-edge science and technology. He and his team are in the process of arranging this year’s FutureTech conference, part of the official programme for World Design Capital Cape Town 2014.

Alan recently returned from New York, where he attended the annual World Science Festival, founded by theoretical physicist and best-selling author Brian Greene. In this talk, he will share some of his experiences ­and offer a few ideas for staging a similar event in Cape Town.
