The Orgamites Mighty Education Programme, a global The Orgamites Mighty Education Programme, a global organ donation and health education program for children, was created by South African Roydon Turner. It was donated to South Africa by Canadian Blood Services and accepted by Groote Schuur Hospital. All of the resources are now freely available to schools across South Africa through the website Orgamites.co.za.

If you missed the first day of the Orgamites Mighty Education Programme in action at the Cape Town Science Centre today, there are two days left (30 April and 2 May 2025). Join us & explore the different organs through fun and interactive activities, talks and so much more... Keep an eye out for the Orgamites heart mascot around the CTSC!

Supported by Groote Schuur and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital - led by Prof. David Thomson and Prof. Mignon McCulloch - The Orgamites Mighty Education Programme, is designed specifically for children aged 5-11, and uses educational resources, videos, activities and a lovable mascot to inspire and equip more students, teachers, and families to discuss organ donation and to take better care of their bodies, each other, and our world.

Brought to life by a team of life-saving organs found within each of us, the Orgamites are also known as the ‘mighty organs’ because they represent the organs most needed for donation and transplantation. In addition to its foundational mission, the Programme simultaneously aims to help address some of the most critical health crises facing the next generation (as identified by the World Health Organisation and other leading health bodies) with its mighty habits and mighty kind lessons.

At its core it is about health education and empowering children, parents and teachers to talk with ready to use toolkits to empower discussions. Visit Orgamites.co.za where the free educational resources can be downloaded by teachers and parents. Check out their YouTube channel for more great videos.
