Choose ONE of the following workshops to attend on each day.

SATURDAY, 16 FEBRUARY (10:00 – 13:00)

• Workshop 1: Teaching 2.0 – Using tech in the classroom (Grade 8 – 12)
Upgrade your teaching with this exploratory workshop on incorporating tech into your lessons. Using tech in the classroom does not have to break the bank! Join this workshop to discover a world of resources beyond boards and books.

• Workshop 2: STEM Toys from Trash (All Grades)
Toys from Trash has become a global phenomenon. The Cape Town Science Centre is excited to offer this global phenomenon with its own CTSC twist – STEM Toys from Trash. Participants will create their own take home STEM Toys. These STEM Toys could easily be incorporated into lessons, adding an interactive and exciting element to STEM learning.

• Workshop 3: CAPS Science Pracs Made Simple (Grade 10 – 12)
Practical assessment just become easier! Learn how to do titrations using the micro-chemistry approach. Benefits include a lower consumable cost, ease-of-use and lower safety hazard. Smaller does not mean less scientific – come and experience it yourself. Radmaste Titration Kits will be given out on the day.

• Workshop 4: Getting to grips with Coding (All Grades)
Train the Trainer – Specifically for teachers proficient in SCRATCH who now want to learn SNAP – this is a 2hour session and teacher welcome to stay on to continue learning

SATURDAY, 23 FEBRUARY (10:00 – 13:00)

• Workshop 1: Making Maths Meaningful (All Grades)
Maths need not be without a practical aspect. This geometry-based workshop will use CTSC’s unique geoboards to learn (and confirm) theorems through exploration. Don’t miss out on this workshop!

• Workshop 2: Life Science Made Practical (Grade 4 – 9)
Enter our life science laboratory to experience a more hands-on approach to teaching life science. From dissections to DNA, explore various demonstrations and experiments which could be easily incorporated into lessons.

• Workshop 3: Essential Skills – Getting to Grips with Graphs (Grade 10 – 12)
The ability to draw, read and interpret graphs is an essential skill required for learners to excel in physical science. This workshop will explore how to construct skill-focused lessons while teaching graphs.
