ORT SA CAPE Robotics workshops – 1 & 8 August, 10:00 & 13:00
A free introductory robotics workshop for children aged 6 – 15. Learn the basics using LEGO WeDo or try your hand at programming robots using LEGO Mindstorms. Be warned – It’s addictive!

Africa Code Week Coding workshop – 1, 2 & 8 August, 10:00 & 15:00
Get SCRATCHing and learn how to code (computer programming). Suitable for children 8 – 14.

Importance of light in space – Interactive discussion – 1,2 & 8 August, 11:00
Audience will be taken through snippets of space movies, latest space innovation and research in South Africa and explore the importance of light in space.
Light, Shadow & Digital Film workshop – 2 August, 10:00 – 14:00
Using your own smart phone with a video camera, learn how to create and produce a one minute movie and your creativity will be tested on how light and shadows have been used.

Demonstration of light science & Camera Obscura tour – 8 August, 10:00, 12:00 & 14:00
A role play representing the great Islamic scientist, father of optics – will demonstrate the use of experiments to verify the theory of light. This will be followed by the tour of the Camera Obscura to see a 360 degree view of Cape Town inside the dark room.
