Get prepared! The CTSC recognises the challenges facing the performance of our Matric learners and will be running TWO
one-day intensive workshops which will directly impact the skill and cognitive ability of matric learners, enabling them to better perform in their forthcoming final exams. The workshop includes practical demonstrations on certain prescribed and
recommended experiments, in-depth explanation of the theory, a strategy for approaching complex and difficult content areas,
and review of previous CAPS exam questions. This skills-based workshop is a combination of content review before the exams and enrichment to better equip the learners to excel in the forthcoming exams. Each learner will receive a comprehensive workshop booklet to use for further revision.

OPEN TO: All Grade 12 Learners and Teachers (FET).

MATRIC LIFE SCIENCE WORKSHOP

DATE: Saturday, 17 August 2019
TIME: 10:00 – 13:00
The workshop will showcase live dissections and dynamic demonstrations, providing context, clarity and real-life visualisation to the theory of the curriculum. Interpretation skills will be a key focus within in the workshop, in particular interpreting diagrams, graphs, case studies etc. Review of exams questions and strategies for tackling difficult questions will be provided.

MATRIC PHYSICAL SCIENCE WORKSHOP

DATE: Saturday, 24 August 2019
TIME: 9:00 – 15:00 (incl. a lunch break – please bring own lunch or coffee shop on site)
Interpretation skills will be highlighted within in the workshop, in particular interpreting graphs, models, diagrams, formulas
etc. and providing a strategy which learners can use to read, interpret and produce required content (graph, diagram, formula
etc). The workshop will cover Mechanics, Electricity, Organic Chemistry, Reaction Rates and so much more. Strategies for
computation based questions will also be examined.
