You will need:
• A raw egg
• Vinegar
• any container
• food colouring (optional)
What to do:
Place the raw egg in a jar or any container. Pour vinegar into the container, making sure to completely submerge the egg. If you’d like, add in a few drops of food colouring to the vinegar to colour your bouncy egg. Leave the egg in the vinegar for at least 2 days. After2-3 days, carefully take the egg out of the vinegar. You’ll notice that the egg shell has dissolved! Carefully remove any leftover shell while rinsing the egg in a bowl of water. You will be left with a translucent bouncy egg! Starting low, have fun with experimenting with how high you can drop the egg before it pops.
What to look out for
While the egg sits in the vinegar, the acidic vinegar breaks down the egg shell. It does this by reacting with the calcium carbonate in the egg shell and gives off carbon dioxide. You might see the carbon dioxide bubbling off the egg during the 2-3 days.
